The population of Gilpin County, Colorado is about 6,000. There are 24 casinos, 12 marijuana dispensaries, 6 liquor stores, and no grocery store. Arwin is a former Buddhist nun. Her nonprofit, the Holistic Homestead, promotes health education, sponsors a medication group in Black Hawk not far from the big casinos, runs an organic produce cooperative, and has the goal of starting an organic grocery store. Arwin's practice of meditation motivates everything her nonprofit does, but her students don't have proper mats for meditating.
